The main cost drivers
Full-arch implant fees vary by the number of arches treated, implant count, extractions, bone management, sedation, provisional restoration, final restoration material, laboratory workflow, imaging and the complexity of the surgical and restorative case. Geography and provider experience can also affect fees.
One arch vs both arches
Rebuilding one upper or lower arch is different from a full-mouth treatment involving both jaws. Make sure a quote clearly says whether it is per arch or for the whole mouth.
Temporary vs final teeth
Ask whether the advertised fee includes both the provisional bridge and the definitive bridge. Final prostheses can differ in design and materials, and those differences can materially affect cost.
Extractions, grafting and sedation
If failing teeth need to be removed, if grafting is required, or if IV/oral sedation is part of the plan, those services may be included or itemized separately.
What an implant quote should spell out
- Number of arches and planned implants
- Diagnostic records and 3D imaging
- Extractions
- Bone grafting or sinus procedures, if needed
- Sedation or anesthesia fees
- Implant hardware and multi-unit components
- Temporary fixed prosthesis
- Final prosthesis and material
- Follow-up visits during healing
- Repair or remake policies
- Long-term maintenance schedule and fees
Insurance and financing in Ontario
Dental plan coverage varies. An insurer may treat different portions of implant treatment differently, and many plans have annual limits. The clinic can usually submit a predetermination or help you understand the insurer's response, but the insurer decides reimbursement. Financing may be available through third-party lenders and should be evaluated based on total borrowing cost, not just the monthly payment.
Why the cheapest quote can cost more
A low initial fee can be attractive, but full-arch treatment also has long-term maintenance and repair considerations. Clarify who will service the prosthesis later, whether components are widely supported, what happens if you move, and how urgent repairs are handled.
Consultation checklist
Bring competing quotes if you have them. Ask the dentist to explain why the treatment plan differs. A legitimate second opinion should focus on clinical rationale rather than simply undercutting a price.
This page intentionally does not publish a universal dollar figure because actual treatment costs vary materially by case and provider. Obtain a written treatment plan and fee estimate after examination.
